Two incredible bands decided to do a co-headline around Europe this winter. Northern Irish band The Answer and power band The Dead Daisies bring the rock n roll for an amazing night out.
THE ANSWER
The first band of the night was The Answer. This Northern Irish band was formed back in 2000 and released their first album, Rise, in 2006. They opened for Deep Purple, AC/DC and have been a household name in the UK for some powerful shows. Their latest album Solas came out just a few ago and I have to say, I love it. Earlier this year they opened up for Whitesnake and they impressed me so much!
It is a very different sound than their other hard rocking albums, but this new, more contemporary sound really fits the band. The band features Cormac Neeson on vocals, Paul Mahon on guitars, Micky Waters on bass and James Heatley on drums.
I absolutely loved the set of The Answer tonight. The mixture between the newer and older material was spot on, but more importantly, they sounded killer. Starting the set with their Solas. I do have to say, perhaps the audience of The Answer and The Dead Daisies is slightly different, or at least the Daisies fans weren’t familiar with them as they took a few songs to really warm up the crowd. That didn’t stop me from having a great time. Other highlights of their set were In This Land, Under the Sky and Demon Eyes.
THE DEAD DAISIES
Power band The Dead Daisies was the second headliner of tonight, and they brought the thunder. Whereas The Answer brought a bit of a darker sound, The Dead Daisies brought some pure hard rock. The Dead Daisies, an Australian-American rock band formed in 2012 in Sydney, Australia, is often called a supergroup. Featuring members who’ve played with iconic acts like Guns N’ Roses, Mötley Crüe, and Whitesnake, they deliver pure, hard rock with electrifying energy. This band knows how to put on a show that leaves fans buzzing long after the final note.
The crowd was really into the Daisies, and it became a very hot and sweaty show. From the get-go, the band took no prisoners and rocked our asses off. Once again, we were treated to a 14 strong set list. The band featured Marco Mendoza on bass, who walked through the crowd, David Lowy and legendary Doug Aldridge on guitars, Brian Tichy on drums and John Corabi on vocals.
Some personal highlights of tonight were Mexico, Song and a Prayer, Mainline and Midnight Moses. The band sounded absolutely awesome, and it is incredible seeing so many legendary artists share the stage.
A PERFECT MATCH
Honestly, it felt like the crowd was mainly here for The Dead Daisies, but boy did I have an incredible time seeing The Answer. The raw energy they brought to the table was amazing, and I was stoked to pick up a vinyl after the show that the band happily signed for me. The same goes for the Daisies as I felt my money burning in my pocked and also bought a vinyl that was signed by them. All in all, both bands sounded awesome, and it was truly a sweaty night out. A true rock n roll night, and I’m glad I got myself a ticket for this show.
