Northern Irish Superbike legend Jonathan Rea hosted a special event during the NW200. A great time to hear more about his career, current season and more!

JONATHAN REA

Both in 2011 and 2012 I had the absolute thrill to interview WSBK rider Jonathan Rea. At the time he was racing for the Dutch Ten Kate team with a few wins under his belt. Since then, he moved to the Kawasaki Racing Team and snacked up 4 consecutive world titles.

Originally this evening with was also with Eugene Laverty, but due to an injury h couldn’t make it over. Together with commentators Stephen Watson and Adrian Logan it was a great evening with a lot of stories, jokes and speculation.

It’s a fantastic way to tell the story, and you get to learn so much about the racing that you might not catch during the live broadcast. Rea was laid-back, in high spirits, and loved cracking jokes. What really stood out was his respect for former teams, fellow competitors, and fans. Not a single bad word was said, and afterward, he took the time to sign autographs and snap selfies with anyone who wanted one.

Spending this evening as a warm-up to the racing action we will see in the coming days at the North West 200 with my dad is amazing.
