THE GREATEST HITS TOUR ROCKS TILBURG

Whitesnake is back on tour with their greatest hits catalogue. After loving the Purple Tour, I had to be there for this show.

I have been so impressed with Whitesnake last year. The show was amazing, so it was a no-brainer to purchase tickets for this show. The line-up of the band was the same as in December, but we did have an amazing special guest joining at the end of the show.

THE ANSWER

The support act was Northern Ireland’s The Answer. A great band that is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of their debut album, Rise. I wasn’t familiar with the band, but seeing them live was awesome! Singer Cormac Neeson really gives some 70s vibes in his singing and dancing, which was great. The whole band played superb and delivered a killer set.

Soaring vocals in combination with groovy riffs, that even had some Celtic influences. The Answer were a perfect support for Whitesnake, and It had me really warmed up. Some of my personal highlights of The Answer’s set were Under The Sky, Come Follow Me and Thief of Light.

Go check them out, you will not be disappointed!

GREATEST HITS

Legendary band Whitesnake has been around since 1978 and scored a global hit with the 1987 album. But till recent, the English hard rock band has been releasing new albums. That, sometimes said, it is good to look back at a lengthy career and play the best off. Whitesnake had that idea and embarked on The Greatest Hits Tour.

I was mind blown when I first saw the band live just a few months ago in Birmingham and couldn’t wait to see them again. Tonight, the show was kicked off straight away with one of my favourite songs: Bad Boys. David Coverdale swing the mic stand around and treated us with some screams.

The bad sounded tight and rocked hard. Slide It In and Love Ain’t No Stranger kept the hits going before what felt for me a deeper cut with The Deeper the Love. I honestly am not as familiar with the Slip of the Tongue album, but the song was great and fitted perfectly in the set. Fool for Your Loving and Ain’t No Love in the Heart of the City brought a more bluesy side to the hard rocking set.

What I love at a Whitesnake show is the sheer talent and musicianship on stage. David Coverdale has a fine nose for talent, and that talent had a lot of time to display it. First up were guitarists Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra, who both showed their best riffs and hooks. With some Dutch blood in him, Hoekstra gave it his all, and the same goes for Beach. Slow an’ Easy separated the guitar solo’s from Michael Devin’s slapping bass solo.
Crying in the Rain followed, with another incredible guitar solo by Mr. Reb Beach. He stood right in front of me during this, so I could witness it up close and personal. At the end of the solo, Reb threw a pick towards me which thankfully I caught it, before Tommy Aldrige blew the crowd away with his insane drum solo.
Is This Love and Give Me All Your Love closed the main set before Adrian van den Berg joined the band on stage for Here I Go Again and Still of the Night. It was incredible to witness and a once of a lifetime moment.

Tonight was once again an incredible performance by David Coverdale and his band! A true rock masterclass with a special bonus of seeing Adrian van den Berg live.
