HENNING WIND-HANSEN MAGAZINE HOLDER

Another incredible piece for our new house is this Henning Wind-Hansen magazine holder. A teak with linen design that passed the test of time and looks amazing in any interior.

HENNING WIND-HANSEN

Hansen gained recognition in the 1960s as a furniture designer for the Danish manufacturer SIKA Møbler. The magazine holder, crafted by Henning Wind-Hansen for Sika Møbler, was produced in collaboration with nearby carpentries, including Wind Hansens møbelfabrik.

Made from solid teak and natural linen, this design, created in the early 1960s, remained in production until the mid-1970s. The wooden frame, slightly warped, is underlaid with a small piece of felt. The magazine rack is often misattributed to Kai Kristiansen.

OUR MAGAZINE HOLDER

Once again, this was a great catch by my amazing wife on Facebook Marketplace. As with the Illum Wikkelsø chair, it was a great find for a great price. These magazine holders go for crazy amounts of money online, and when I saw crazy, I mean above 300 euro crazy. It goes without saying that we didn’t pay anything near that.

I love this vintage piece. The quality of the oak wood and the linen is outstanding. There is a small spot on the linen, of which we are a bit afraid to clean in case we ruin it. However, when you have a magazine or a vinyl record in the holder, you don’t see it. It is great to have such a small, but well-designed item in our living room, and it fits perfectly with the chair.
