Ozobot Casestudy

Programming is becoming more important by the day in today’s society. Starting early with getting to grips with the different tools can bring you a big advantage. Ozobot is offering small robots you can program for young children at home and in school. As a marketer for the Dutch importer, I had the opportunity to work on this exciting brand’s promotion within the BeNeLux and DACH region.

THE PRODUCT

Ozobot are educational robots that teach young children the exciting world of programming. The small robots are programmed by drawing lines in different colours. By making these colour codes, the robot will perform different manoeuvres and tasks. However, the robots can also be used by tablet and computer, diving into a more advanced level of coding and programming.

The brand was redefining the role of robotics in education with our award-winning coding robots and STEAM-based learning solutions.

WEBSITE

For the first few years I was working at TJM, we just updated the existing website. It had an online store, in which we received orders from around Europe and managed to easily change content. However, the website became outdated and we started getting small problems.

I was able to handle this for a bit whilst working on a new website. This website featured some new copy and a much cleaner approach to how we displayed the product. Migrating the new design to the domain is always a bit scary, but thankfully it went well without too many hiccups. We quickly saw new orders coming in on the website, showing us that all was migrated well.

The new website was not only faster, but also offered more information to our end-users, making it easy to solve potential issues via our FAQ sections.

TEACHING MATERIALS

The US based brand created some teaching materials themselves, but we had a whole line of lessons that were completely different. They gave more insight to teachers and students, making it even easier to learn and play.  The lessons all came with a student card that included several tasks and a teacher card that gave more information on how to use the materials. It was a great way to start learning about programming from a very young age.

We published the lessons on our Ozobot websites, but also on those of Teach2Code, as they were part of the free learning kit as well. In the case study of T2C, I wrote more about the lessons, but in short I did a big overhaul on the design of the lessons and the look and feel of it. The end result was great, and we received a lot of positive feedback.

PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS

Most of our promotional efforts were going into promoting Ozobot via influencers. It was a great way to hit the educational market via teacher influencers who share their passion online. Working with these influencers was exciting and seeing some of the videos they produced was great.

We did create flyers to hand out to educational resellers and distribute them during expo’s. As we put a lot of effort into promoting Teach2Code, we always made sure that this was mentioned on our flyer.

Ozobot was a great brand to work on. Knowing and understanding that our materials served an educational purpose was truly satisfying. Bringing children in touch with programming and coding.
