I was asked to design a logo for a new podcast about the city of Birmingham, UK. The plan was to dive into the different aspects of the city in different episodes of the series This City. I was more than happy to help out!
BIRMINGHAM
Birmingham, located in the heart of England, is a vibrant and dynamic city with a rich history and a diverse cultural scene. As the second-largest city in the United Kingdom, Birmingham boasts a unique blend of modernity and tradition. Known as the “City of a Thousand Trades,” Birmingham played a crucial role in the industrial revolution and was once a powerhouse of manufacturing and innovation.
Today, Birmingham is a bustling metropolis with a thriving economy, offering a wide array of attractions and activities. The city’s skyline is adorned with a mix of historic Victorian architecture and contemporary skyscrapers, showcasing its evolution over the centuries. Visitors can explore an array of museums, art galleries, and theaters, immersing themselves in the city’s arts and culture.
THIS CITY LOGO
I had lived in Birmingham for around a year when I moved back to the Netherlands. After a while, I was asked to design a logo for a new podcast series, This City. I was stoked to be asked to create the logo and gave it my all.
The goal was to incorporate the city of Birmingham as much as possible. I went on to create the skyline of the city with some of the most iconic buildings and created it in the cities color blue.
Unfortunately, the podcast never saw the day of life and the logo was shelved. It was a bit of a bummer, but that is part of the job. I’m still pleased with the design and was happy to be part of the project.
