In 2017 KISS would come to the Netherlands for a big show. An article I wrote made it onto a Dutch news outlet!
KISS
I always loved writing and was considering to become one. After having experience with the Moriwaki 250 Junior Cup in writing, I felt I had a good base. I decided to start writing about other topics, and in this case music. With only a degree in graphic design, I wouldn’t be hired for writer positions. Maybe with a good portfolio I would, and so I started writing.
KISS is one of my favorite bands. So I decided to ease myself in with an article about the return of KISS to the Netherlands. Not having a place to publish anything, I decided to email to news outlets. Perhaps they would be interested to post my story. It might come to no surprise, but the results I got were a lot of no answers and several no’s. I didn’t let it stop me! As I kept sending till the news outlet De Havenloods decided to post my article. I was over the moon! It felt amazing that my text was online on a trusted news site in the Netherlands.

KISS keert terug naar Nederland voor spectaculaire show!
Al ruim 40 jaar staat de Amerikaanse rockband KISS wereldwijd bekend om hun muziek en live shows, en op 24 mei 2017 staan ze in Ahoy Rotterdam voor de eerste keer in 2 jaar.
KISS is in 1973 opgericht in New York, en de band wist al snel een naam te maken door hun spetterende live optredens. De geschminkte gezichten, extravagante kostuums en een live show die bestond uit vuurspuwen, rokende gitaren, bloedspugen, explosies en vuurwerk gaf de band al snel de naam de “Hottest band in the world”. Een naam die ze nu 40 jaar later nog steeds vol trots dragen.
Het grote succes voor KISS in Nederland kwam met het album Dynasty in 1979 waar het nummer I Was Made For Loving You voor maar liefst 17 weken in de Top40 stond. Wereldwijd heeft de band meer dan 100 miljoen platen verkocht en wisten ze maar liefst 25 gouden platen te behalen.
In 2014 is de band opgenomen in de Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Dit gebeurde niet zonder slag of stoot en de band dankt deze eer dan ook vooral aan hun grote groep schare fans, genaamd de KISS Army.
De huidige bandleden Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer en Eric Singer zitten op dit moment midden in hun KISSWorld tour. De tour brengt de band na 2 jaar afwezigheid terug in Europa en met verschillende uitverkochte concerten is het nu al een succes. Op 24 mei maakt de band hun opwachting in Ahoy Rotterdam. Dit is de eerste keer in 2 jaar tijd dat KISS in Nederland speelt en er zijn nog beperkte kaarten verkrijgbaar via Ticketmaster.nl.
